I'm a Named Pattern fangirl, I'm sure you know. I can't keep track of how many Inaris and Inari-hacks I've made the past couple of years. And Alexandria trousers. These two
Olivia features a slightly tulip shaped skirt with front pleats, in seam pockets and tie closure. For an even better fit you are instructed to attach an elastic to the inside waist. Clever detail!
Named Patterns are designed for a taller than average woman, and some reviewers have mentioned that the skirt is pretty long - so I decided not to add length to the skirt, which I normally would do for my 177 cm. The length is spot on for me. In fact so perfect that I wish I had added a couple of centimetres, because I've left the skirt unhemmed to keep this length.
I omitted the pockets. I love pockets but I was afraid they would add a little extra bulk to the side seam - and I don't need extra fabric in my hip area! Also, the tulip shape was not flattering on me so I removed come centimetres from each side seam tapering towards the hem.
I love how this dress fits. Really. It's so great. I kind of feel that it was designed exactly for me. That's how great I feel about it. But, I bet that's how a lot of women would feel about this beauty. If you're looking for at not too fitted wrap dress you can stop your search. This is it. No gaping, no flapping skirt, a waist seam that stays in place - freakin' amazing is what it is. Olivia, I love you. I'm going to make you a lot of sisters, I promise.
And of course I had to wrap myself in pale pink velvet. It's so soft.
'Oh, look at that weird lady constantly petting herself'.
Velvet will make you do that. You can't help it.
It is a great pattern - I made a sleeveless version and adore it!
SvarSletThis is easily the most fabulous version of this pattern ever!!! All the heart eyes!!!
SvarSletIt looks great! I have this pattern on my tracing table right now...I'm 5'10" and have been trying to decide on whether or not to add any length to the arms or skirt, so it's very helpful to see your make! Thank you.
